Seeing as it is mental health awareness week I thought I would make a blog post showing a little love, support and understanding.
"And I still refuse to give up hope"
Mental health covers a variety of things such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bipolar, eating disorders, schizophrenia, ocd, compulsive disorders and many others.
Mental health is not something to be afraid of, whether you have a mental health issue or you know somebody with one. It is to be embraced and fought.
#NationalMentalHealthAwarenessDay
Don't be afraid of your illness.
You are allowed to speak up and ask for help.
It is okay not to be okay.
Mental Illness does not make you any less of a human.
You are worth life.
Confide in those that reach out to you.
In society there are many stigmas and theories attached to mental health. These make it harder for the people suffering to come forward and confide in those around them. Instead it turns them away from getting help or speaking out. Mental illness shouldn't be something that we are afraid to admit we have. It shouldn't be something we should have to hide, because it is apart of us. Why should members of a society be made to feel "different" because they are suffering?
It is possible to recover from a mental health issue, it takes great strength and determination, but with the right people and mindset it will happen one day. "Recovery is a path not to be rushed nor ran, but to be simply walked at your own pace. It is not a race to win, nor a competition to cross the finish line, but simply a smile and some courage to guide you in the right direction"
After suffering from a mental health issue you may get trapped in a thought pattern and find comfort within your own isolation and negativity. I would highly recommend seeing a professional for some guidance, care, support and knowledge to help you take a small step outside of your illness and to beat it.
Mental health may not be seen by the naked eye. Take the time and effort to look deeper into the eyes of the problem. Everyday, every minute somebody is suffering from a mental health illness. Don't let them suffer alone because nobody noticed the signs. If you notice something not quite right with a friend, relative or just somebody at work or in school check up with them and show your support. Illness should never be fought alone.
Lets this chance to take the opportunity to seek help, recover, and stand up to your mental health, don't let it rule the rest of your life. Make a stand and reach out to help available, you are never alone. Help is out there waiting for you, you are all worthy of help, recovery and support.
If you know somebody or think you could know somebody suffering from a mental health issue don't be afraid to ask them if they are okay and reach out to them.
You are all worth recovery, life, and love.
